This Digital Download Sewing Pattern PDF is designed to be made using a lightweight cotton or cotton polyester fabric. You could also use a medium jersey or preowned fabrics – cut up an old Hawaiian shirt or summer dress.

The unisex shorts are great for all children but especially for children with sensory issues who often don’t like the feeling of seams or labels. All my sewing patterns are created with external seams so that the inside is smooth.

There is an optional hanging pocket which can be featured on the outside OR hidden on the inside.

Features for your Sensory Child

• The seams are worked on the outside so that the inside is smooth and has no scratchy itchy seam allowances or labels.
• The contrast tab at the front helps children work out which way round to put the shorts on – so there should be no ‘back to front’ moments.
• The pocket has a hidden ribbon tab to attach precious items.
• Make these in recycled fabric (dad or mum’s old shirt or a charity/thrift shop find), to avoid the use of stiff new fabrics and also save the planet.
